Facet Joint Injection

The vertebrae are stacked on top of each other to form the spine. During this arrangement, there are facet joints in the sense of "face to face" in the parts that come into contact with each other between the two vertebrae.

Facet joints start from the neck and continue to the last part of the waist. These joints are combined with each other by cartilage and ligaments.

They can cause severe neck and low back pain due to compression of the nerves in the facet joints due to aging and trauma to the facet joints.

Facet joint injection is a procedure performed under operating room conditions. After the location of the nerve causing the pain is determined with the help of an imaging device, the nerve of the facet joint is reached with the needle and the nerve block is performed.

For facet nerve block, it can be performed with a combination of local anesthetic, hyaluronidase and steroid, or it can be performed with radiofrequency thermoregulation method.

After the procedure, the patient is discharged after an observation period of 1-2 hours.
